How Fast Time Flies!

Everyone is here and the school is set up and ready for our 11th medical campaign. Over the weekend, we had a fantastic worship with the congregation here in Itu, welcomed the Aggies for Christ to town, and completed our orientation to the operation of CURA for the next week for all of the 170+ volunteers. We also met the medical students from Unicamp and Unifae, and we welcomed the dental team, Por 1 Sorriso, that are joining us.

As we set up, I couldn’t help but notice all the things that make this effort possible and realized what we would not have if not for our incredible sponsors in the US:  Twelve laptops donated by Shannon Hospital and several other private individuals to run our patient management software, Blood pressure cuffs from both Shannon and Medical Arts Pharmacy, Diabetic testing supplies courtesy of Myers Drug.  Shannon Hospital also donated four bilirubin beds for jaundiced newborns to a nearby clinic. On top of this, there are several individuals that would not have been able to come if not for those who generously donated to our scholarship fund!

It has been a wonderful start to the week. Seeing old friends from CURA, church and even waiters in restaurants that I have been seeing now for nearly 12 years.

As the week progresses, we will be sending reports of some of the amazing people and stories that make up CURA. You will see photos of people and patients of CURA, emphasizing that no one person represents CURA.  We are a team that works for a common cause with a common God. Cuidado, Respeito, Amor—Care, Respect, Love—This is how God has commanded us to treat all of those around us. During this week, we will see how far this goes toward creating a world we all dream of.

We ask that you join us in prayer for this week as we seek more for those around us. I look forward to sharing with you—God bless!

Até mais—till later—

Consider helping with a small donation or a purchase from our shop as we continue to need funding for materials and equipment to increase our ability to serve. We have t-shirts, hoodies, and mugs for sale here.
